Steven Todd’s background is a colorful one that runs the gamut from college student to United States Marine to actor to the world of ART.
Steven was recently awarded membership to the J. Paul Getty Research Institute, which is the foremost research library at the Getty Museum. Mr. Todd was born and raised in Chicago where he received his BA from Northeastern Illinois University. He served in the Marine Corp with distinguished service and was nominated for the “Marine of the Quarter Award”. As a Marine, he served overseas in Okinawa, Japan. Following his service to our country, Mr. Todd headed to New York City to act professionally in commercials and theatre. At the Courtyard Playhouse in Greenwich Village he starred in a number of productions. He later became part of the Marionette and Pupperty Company touring the United States. After relocating to Los Angeles, Mr. Todd landed a role in a “Hallmark Hall of Fame” teleplay written by Arthur Miller, starring: Richard Benjamin, Robert Alda, Anthony Alda, Linda Hunt, Jose Ferrer and Steven Todd in a role of support.
Utilizing his vast experience of performing and meeting people from all over the U.S., Mr. Todd ventured into the world of fine art 18 years ago. First becoming a sales consultant for one of the largest Art publishers in the U.S., Collectors Editions. He was instrumental in the phenomenal growth of this Los Angeles based art publishing giant. There he had the opportunity to break into the art business representing 3 well known artist: David Lloyd Glover, Martiros and Schimmel. Mr. Todd then took over as Regional Manager for the prestigious UK based London Contemporary Art where he represented Roy Fairchild and Ihtzak Tarkay. At Rosenbaum Fine Art, Mr. Todd developed their successful Limited Edition Program and jump started the world-wide marketing for artists: Arbe and J.D. Parrish. Later, Mr. Todd became Artistic President for Palm Desert Art Publishers (a publicly owned company) where he represented artist Patricia Nix.
When the art publishing print world moved towards the technology of giclee, Mr. Todd, along with a new print/giclee atelier found himself developing the archival process for preventing giclees from color shifting and fading. The resulting coating allowed hand embellishing of the prints and enabled artists to move into a new art form of mixed media.
Today, with Mr. Todd’s selected top gallery artists, he travels world-wide marketing their artwork to dealers, providing them with the very best opportunities in contemporary fine art. Recognizing the challenges of the rapidly changing art market he would like to reach out to more people in the art world with direct relationships.
